I’m taking a poll for my Education class and I was wondering, how everyone prefers to learn and why? Please try to give as much feedback as possible.
I’ll give some examples…

Visual Learners: learn through seeing…

These learners need to see the teacher’s body language and facial expression to fully understand the content of a lesson. They tend to prefer sitting at the front of the classroom to avoid visual obstructions (e.g. people’s heads). They may think in pictures and learn best from visual displays including: diagrams, illustrated text books, overhead transparencies, videos, flipcharts and hand-outs. During a lecture or classroom discussion, visual learners often prefer to take detailed notes to absorb the information.

Auditory Learners: Learn through listening…

They learn best through verbal lectures, discussions, talking things through and listening to what others have to say. Auditory learners interpret the underlying meanings of speech through listening to tone of voice, pitch, speed and other nuances. Written information may have little meaning until it is heard. These learners often benefit from reading text aloud and using a tape recorder.

Tactile/Kinesthetic Learners: Learn through, moving, doing and touching…

Tactile/Kinesthetic persons learn best through a hands-on approach, actively exploring the physical world around them. They may find it hard to sit still for long periods and may become distracted by their need for activity and exploration.

Please remember to say WHY you are that. The more details the better.

I’m auditory all the way. I had a professor that liked to draw these diagrams on the board as a way to explain his points. It confused me so much that I just had to look away and write every word down that he said. I also have to read out loud to study.

hands on. Is just easier way to learn when you are actually practicing to do it then when you just see a picture or a video of how to do it.

I’m all three. I think everybody is. It’s just that each person has a better understanding with one of these three methods more.

Tactile because I love learning hands-on. I hate just sitting their and watching people give lectures. I’d rather watch someone do something and then do it myself, instead of just reading it out of a book or manual. That’s why I’ve had a hard time with history, because you can’t see history, you can only read and hear about it.

Well, I don’t know much about multiple intelligence theory, but I think there are more than 3 choices usually.

I’m not sure which one I am, but its whatever the "Absorb new information by connecting it with past knowledge, and if misunderstood, asking weird questions like "How does that relate to [something tangentially related]" or use of descriptive analogies" one is. Basically I use the mind web approach. And its usually the way I relay information back to others. I guess a computer programmer would call it object-oriented-learning.
