I hate to burst your bubble, but ALL these "reality" shows are staged. Even the Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Gene Simmons show, all of them are scripted way in advance. The marriage problems with Jon and Kate, unfortunately, were not in the plans, and has made a snag in the show. Instead of making it more popular, which most scandals do, this one has hurt the show – people are totally disgusted with both parents now.

Its not staged….they do lay out what they will be doing each episode (going to the zoo, bday party, etc) but what you see is what they are actually doing……Do you really believe that you could script six 5year olds?? I doubt that!
I think its stupid, who is Julie anyway, shes just making noise to get her name in the news!

ALSO…to the person who said the marital problems hurt their ratings….thats pretty funny because the premiere on monday was the HIGHEST rating for and TLC show ever…and it doubled the ratings for the season four finale….so I dont think you really know what your saying!

I think that they have gotten a little bit bigger, faster then they expected. I also think that Jon feels that he needs to "live" he missed his younger years, because of all of the struggles they really did have in their 20′s with the babies, but now because of the show they really don’t have the struggles, but still have the stresses of 8 kids. Kate is more the responsible one and wants to continue working to make this as much of a success as possible for their children’s future. She really isn’t into spending or blowing the money and I think Jon really wants to blow off a little steam……..It’s like he’s having a mid life crisis early! I think they’ll definitely work through it! It would be devastating too their family if they were to get divorced. I hope the show will continue, but if they need to stop their show so that they can work on things and stay together..i’m ok with that too!

It probably is. Kate is manipulative. Nobody will argue that. (She’ll never win a popularity contest.) But really. She found herself in a situation that she could maneuver to get all the things she wanted, and have her perfect little life, without having to work and pay for it all.she took advantage of that. And then it turned her into a spoiled brat. She seems like she has this sense of entitlement to everything just ’cause she’s Kate. She thinks she can walk all over people and they’ll take it, and bow to her, and cater to her every whim…just ’cause she’s Kate!

I totally think the show is staged! She decides she wants a trip, and then the episode is built around her trip. And then a magazine will do a story on the trip too- and then she’ll get even more famous! And that will mean she’ll get more STUFF! She’s a monster!

These shows are scripted to a point, (like what they are going to do in the episode, who is involved etc) Just check out the blogs that Kate’s brother and his wife are leaving on the internet. (Sorry I don’t know the exact ones). And Kate has a lot of input on what is being aired.
