I think staring at me is a sign that you wanna fight or challange my stregnth/athority what ever so when I listen to others I periodically look away or down cuz I don’t want them to feel like its the staredown before a boxing match. Its a respect thing I do for others.

I do not agree with …
I do not agree with you at all. Try to use the paraphrasing together with the active listening techniques the lady tells you about firs.t You will find that often, people will feel more comfortable with you as they feel you do really listen. The trick to it is that you need to practice this until you can do it naturally. You can use the other person’s choice of words or use your your own. I use this technique all the time and get very positive response. Try it!

This video is totally pointless. Anyone with half a brain can see how awkward this is, and how embarrassed the actors are to be there. PS: don’t stare at someone for like two minutes straight. It’s creepy.

I learned in …
I learned in psychology class that the reflecting verbally what the other person is saying is a method some psychologists use with clients. Not super widely used as it doesn’t accomplish a whole lot, just makes the clients feel better and more assured of themselves, for the most part.
